Our Acreage
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
Our Acreage is a resident-led community website about parks, sports and recreation in The Acreage. It supports Jay Sweet, Patty Farrell and Michael Johnson for the Indian Trail Improvement District board. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- When you endorse: your name, neighborhood, email address, mobile number, photo and optional message. Your first name and last initial, neighborhood, photo and message are shown publicly once a person approves them. Your email and mobile number are never shown; we use them to make sure each person endorses once. We only text you if you check the separate, optional text box.
- Fraud protection: each time the endorsement form is sent, we keep the email entered, the result and a one-way scrambled version of your IP address for 90 days, so we can spot fake or repeated endorsements.
- When you sign up for updates: your name, email address, mobile number (if you give one), neighborhood, the topics you pick and how you'd like to help.
- Consent records: when you agree to email or texts, we keep the exact wording you agreed to, the date and time, where you agreed and a one-way scrambled version of your IP address, so we can show your consent if asked.
- Messages: a record of the emails and texts we send you and any texts you send us.
We don't use analytics, ad trackers or third-party cookies. The site sets two small cookies needed to keep forms secure.
How we use it
We use your information only for this effort: to show approved endorsements, to send the updates you asked for (election updates and voting reminders, candidate events, endorsement updates and an occasional newsletter), and to answer you if you reach out.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with candidates, campaigns, parties or anyone else for their own use.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
We use a few service providers to run the site, and they handle data only on our behalf: our web host, Mailgun (email delivery) and Twilio (text messages).
Your choices
- Email: every email has links to choose your topics or unsubscribe.
- Texts: reply STOP to any text to stop, or HELP for help. See the SMS Terms.
- Remove your endorsement: email [email protected] and we'll take it off the site.
- Delete your information: email [email protected] and we'll remove it, except a record that you opted out, which we keep so we don't contact you again.
How long we keep it
We keep sign-up and endorsement information while Our Acreage is active. Email [email protected] any time and we'll delete yours, apart from a record that you opted out, which we keep so we don't contact you again. Records of each endorsement form send are deleted after 90 days.
Children
This site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
